NEWSFLASH: Prolam is featured in the Nelson Regional Development Agency’s latest video series on innovative businesses in the Nelson Tasman region.
As a family-owned business based in Motueka, we’re proud to be part of a thriving local timber processing industry that’s leading the way in sustainable, high-performance building materials.
For over 20 years, we’ve been supplying architects, engineers and builders with an ever-growing range of glulam beams, posts, trusses and portals that are sold across New Zealand.
Watch the video to see how the NRDA have been a key part of our journey to where we are today.
Prolam Managing Director John Woodman says the NRDA, and their Regional Business Partner Network, have been instrumental in helping us grow and innovate.
“NRDA has assisted us to tap into funding for product research and development and connected us with the right people to help us turn our ideas into reality,” John says.
“The demand for engineered timber is growing fast, and we’re proud to be at the forefront, offering solutions that increase its use in New Zealand homes and buildings.”
NRDA’s backing has been pivotal in our ability to develop industry-leading products like the PLX20 Beam and PLX Portal, and introduce cutting-edge timber processing technologies and equipment that have enabled us to produce these products.
And, as John says: “Investing in innovation doesn’t just help us—it supports a sustainable future for the Nelson Tasman’s forestry and timber processing industry and contributes to a strong regional economy”.
As Prolam’s manufacturing capabilities have expanded, so too has our team. Today, we employ around 100 people at our two Motueka production facilities, providing skilled jobs and career pathways in the local timber industry.
A big thanks to NRDA for putting the spotlight on businesses like ours and helping to drive innovation in the region.
